As the program continues to grow, and as new schools enter the program, so too do guidelines around student numbers. To adhere to Work, Health, and Safety guidelines, and to ensure that every child and adult has a seat at the Quaycentre and there is plenty of room to perform on the floor, each school is permitted to bring 30 STUDENTS ONLY to the 2024 Gala. The number may be less, but it cannot exceed 30. Of course, you may have any number of students participate in the school-based lessons. Student numbers are due to [email protected] and the committee by Friday 26 July 2024 (Week 1, Term 3).
Finalists should be chosen by the dance tutor in consultation with the coordinating teacher. Finalists should be from Year 5 only, and do not necessarily have to be your best dancers. Commitment to the program and student wellbeing should also be considered. Please note finalists are not being chosen on the night – this is the process for the Metropolitan North Gala- not ours. There should be 1x finalist couple for each dance style – cha cha, tango, salsa, and jive. Finalists cannot be repeated (i.e. compete in more than one style). This means that your school should have 8 children altogether for the finals e.g. 4 boys, 4 girls. For the gala event, finalists will have a number secured to their shirt/top/leotard. These numbers will be given out on the day of the event.
