To add another dimension to the night, all students will perform a FINALE to celebrate each school’s DanceSport Gala journey. The finale will be taught at the rehearsal at the Quaycentre.
Judging Criteria:
The following factors are integral for adjudicators involved with the DanceSport Challenge:
Be able to identify aspects in relation to: Hold, Tempo, Beats and Bars and a Precede
Follow choreography transitions
The above criteria are taught to the students along with bowing, walking on and starting and finishing a dance during the 15 week learning period.
The scrutineering system is as follows:
The first stage being the adjudicators marks are scrutineered by "DanceScore", which is an application used for all DanceSport events, including the National Championship and the Australian Championship. From there, 1 point is awarded to each school that makes it to the next round of that dance, continually to the final.
In 2024, we wish to further highlight the student wellbeing aspect at the Gala which will see the following change. The NSW Public Schools DanceSport Gala for Metropolitan South, will no longer distinguish between 1st to 10th place winners in the competition, opting to acknowledge all 10 couples equally in the final round. Additionally, there will be no recognition of an overall winning school as in previous years. This change aims to celebrate all participants and foster a more inclusive atmosphere, which further aligns with the ethos of this program.
